Guidance on Electronic Marketing
The UK Information Commissioner has recently produced a very useful guide for marketers who use Electronic Marketing techniques. The guide explains how the Electronic Commerce regulations and the Data Protection Act 1998 should be implemented in practice. In particular it addresses the often thorny issue for many companies of what is an "opt-in". The good news is that the approach being adopted by the Information Commissioner makes it much easier to gain a "permission" for e-marketing than has hitherto been considered to be the case. This document "Guidance for Marketers" is extremely helpful in our opinion!
